The grammar pattern "~のに" in Japanese is used to express a contrast between two clauses.
The first clause before "~のに" describes a situation or condition, and the second clause after "~のに" expresses an unexpected or contrary result.
It can be translated as "although", "despite", or "even though" in English.
For example, if you say "忙しいのに、手伝ってくれてありがとう" (Isogashii noni, tetsudatte kurete arigatou), it means "Thank you for helping me even though you are busy", indicating the contrast between the person being busy and still helping you.
